Students wishing to apply for financial aid may do so by scheduling an appointment with the Admissions Department upon enrollment or may choose to do it online.   For those applying for Pell Grants, Subsidized Loans, Unsubsidized Loans & PLUS Loans, you may complete your FAFSA forms prior to your second interview online at   FAFSA.com.  

New Mexico Student Loans are only available students enrolling in a New Mexico or Oklahoma campus.   Those wishing to apply may to   New Mexico Student Loans.

All funding is available to those who qualify.   We encourage students and parents to contact our Admissions Department at the school location nearest to you to answer any questions you may have.


TEXAS ADMISSIONS AND ENROLLMENT

The school does not discriminate in its employment, admission, instruction, or graduation policies on the basis of age, race, handicap, creed, color, religion, financial status, ethnic origin, or sex. The school requires that each student enrolling in the Cosmetology, Manicuring, or Esthetician course is at least 17 years of age and has:

  • graduated from high school, GED OR
  • Federally approved ATB test

All applicants must complete an Application for Enrollment. Prior to starting classes, students must:

  1. Pay the applicable registration fee, which is refundable, if the applicant is rejected.
  2. Register with the state regulatory agency and pay the required fee of $25.00, which may not be refunded.
  3. Provide proof of age and secondary education.

If a student is above the age of compulsory attendance, but does not have a high school diploma or GED, a prospective student must pass a Federally Approved Ability to Benefit Test for admission. Ability to Benefit testing information can be obtained from the school. [1/22/07]

APPLICANTS FOR THE INSTRUCTOR COURSE MUST MEET THE ABOVE CRITERIA AND:

  1. Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  2. Have met all requirements for licensure as a cosmetologist.
  3. Be at least 17 years of age.

The school does not recruit students already attending or admitted to any other school offering a similar program of study.

TRANSFER STUDENTS
The school will administer a scholastic evaluation to students wishing to transfer to the school or require the transfer student to enter the school’s Phase I class. Based on the test results, if applicable, the school may recognize credit for all or part of the applicant’s previous training or work experience provided it is recognized by the Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists. Any transfer hours must be submitted and approved prior to enrollment. Transfer students must complete a minimum of 300 clock hours. In addition, such students must meet all regular entrance and registration requirements. If approved for enrollment, tuition will be charged at the hourly rate for the course of study at the time of enrollment plus the applicable registration fee.

Applicants contracting for 50% or more of the full course length will be provided a kit, which includes applicable texts and uniforms according to the standard policy for full course students. Applicants contracting for less than 50% of the full course length will be charged for the full kit, uniform, and applicable texts which will remain the property of the student when all graduation requirements have been met. Contact the school administration office for applicable kit prices.

A student transferring from one ITS Academy Inc. campus to another will be charged a $100 fee, but their contract will remain the same. All transfer and re-entry students must be properly registered with the state regulatory agency.

TEXAS COSMETOLOGY COURSE OUTLINE

1500 Hours

DESCRIPTION: The primary purpose of the Cosmetology Course is to train the student in the basic manipulative skills, safety judgments, proper work habits, and desirable attitudes necessary to pass the State Board examination and for competency in job entry level positions in Cosmetology or related career field.

OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of the course requirements, the determined graduate will be able to:

  1. Project a positive attitude and a sense of personal integrity and self-confidence.
  2. Practice proper grooming and effective communications skills and visual poise.
  3. Understand employer employee relationships and respect the need to deliver worthy service for value received.
  4. Perform the basic manipulative skills including hair styling, shaping, bleaching, tinting, chemical reformation, scalp/hair conditioning, facials, manicures, pedicures and nail extensions.
  5. Perform the basic analytical skills to determine proper makeup, hairstyle, and color application for the client’s best overall look.
  6. Apply the theory, technical information and related matter to assure sound judgments, decisions, and procedures.

To ensure continued career success, the graduate will continue to learn new and current information related to techniques, trends, fashions, and methods for career development in cosmetology and related fields.

FORMAT: The clock hour education is provided through a sequential set of learning steps which address specific tasks necessary for state board preparation, graduation and job entry level skills. Clinic equipment, implements, and products are comparable to those used in the industry. Each student will receive instruction that relates to the performance of useful, creative, and productive career oriented activities. The course is presented through well-developed lesson plans, which reflect current educational methods. Subjects are presented by means of lecture, demonstration, and student participation. Audio-visual aids, guest speakers, field trips and other related learning methods are used in the course.

REFERENCES: Students follow Milady’s Standard: Cosmetology and Standard System of Salon Skills. A comprehensive library of references, periodicals, books, texts, and audio/video tapes are available to support the course of study and supplement the students’ training. Students should avail themselves of the opportunity to use these extensive materials.

GRADING PROCEDURES: Students are assigned theory study and a minimum number of practical experiences. Theory is evaluated after each unit of study. Practical assignments are evaluated as completed and counted toward course completion ONLY when rated as satisfactory or better. Practical skills are evaluated according to text procedures, performance standards established by the state licensing agency, and set forth in the Practical Skills Evaluation Criteria. Students must maintain a theory grade average of 75% and pass a FINAL written and practical exam prior to graduation. Students must make up failed or missed tests and incomplete assignments. Numerical grades are considered according to the following scale:

  • 91 – 100         Excellent – 4
  • 81 –    90        Above Average – 3
  • 75 –    80        Satisfactory – 2
  • below 75        Unsatisfactory – 1

TEXAS ESTHETICIAN COURSE OUTLINE - PLANO

750 Hours

DESCRIPTION: The Esthetics Course offers a complete 750 hour course in the science and art of esthetics. The program is designed to prepare and educate each student in the fundamentals of the basic esthetic education set forth by TDLR. It will also prepare each student for the practical and theory examination for a Texas Esthetic License. In addition, the course will incorporate the knowledge needed for entry level employment in salons, spas, or clinical esthetics.

OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of the course requirements, the graduate will be able to:

  1. Perform and meet the standards set by the school and the esthetic industry
  2. Perform technical, communication, and servicing skills
  3. Successfully complete the State of Texas requirements to practice esthetics
  4. Exhibit the kind of professionalism necessary to gain and maintain entry level employment.
  5. Take and pass the Texas State Board of Cosmetology Exam for esthetic licensing.

To ensure continued career success, the graduate will continue to learn new and current information related to techniques, trends, fashions, and methods for career development in esthetics and related career positions.

FORMAT: The clock hour education is taught within a set of structured curriculum that prepares students for state board examination, graduation, and entry level skills. The esthetic course encompasses both theory and practical education for each topic. Clinic equipment and products are comparable to those used in the industry. The course is presented through well developed lesson plans, which reflect current educational methods. Subjects are presented by means of lecture, demonstration and student participation. Instruction will be supplemented with visual aids, guest speakers, field trips and other instructional techniques.

REFERENCES: Students follow Milady’s Standard Fundamentals for Estheticians textbook. A comprehensive library of references, periodicals, books and DVD’s are available to support the course of study and supplement the student training.

  1. Project a positive attitude and a sense of personal integrity and self-confidence.
  2. Practice proper grooming and effective communications skills and visual poise.
  3. Understand employer employee relationships and respect the need to deliver worthy service for value received.
  4. Perform the basic skills necessary for teaching including writing lesson plans, performing lectures and demonstrations, directing student projects, using library resources and audio-visual aids, conducting theory class instruction and measuring student achievement, supervising clinic operations, and maintaining required student records.
  5. Apply the theory, technical information and related matter to assure sound judgments, decisions, and procedures.

To ensure continued career success, the graduate will continue to learn new and current information related to techniques, communications skills and teaching methodologies to improve teaching skills.

Tuition Course Costs

Effective September 1st, 2008, our current tuition will be $16,095.00 for the Cosmetology Course of training.*.   This includes your books, uniforms and kit.   Additional uniforms and kit items can be purchased separately if desired.

Our current cost of tuition for the Aesthetics Course of training is $12,500*.   This includes your books, uniforms and kit.   Additional uniforms and kit items can be purchased separately if desired.

Our current cost of tuition for the Instructor Course of training is $4,100*.   This includes your books for training.   Additional jackets can be purchased separately if desired.

Students may purchase Advanced Education packages in increments of $400, $600, and $800. See your Admissions Representative for more details on the Advanced Education Workshops.
